The Vatican has released the following images of Pope Benedict XVI as he is prepared to lie in state for Catholics to say their goodbyes.
The Vatican wrote on Twitter:
‘The first images of the remains of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI which rests in the Chapel of the Mater Ecclessiae monastery at the Vatican where he died at the age of 95. It will be exhibited on Monday at 9am in St. Peter's Basilica’.
