A month after Pope Leo XVI’s visit to Lebanon, another global Catholic superstar is set to visit.
DJ Padre Guilherme has been known in Catholic circles for a number of years now, playing to over 1 million people at World Youth Day in Lisbon in 2023.
The Portuguese priest then hit new levels of fame in recent months, when it was somewhat dramatically reported that he and Pope Leo XIV had hosted a rave.
Now, a visit to Lebanon, to play a gig in a nightclub in Beirut, has been attracting controversy.
A petition against the visit, signed by lay and clergy, has said that it “undermines church values” and “misrepresents Christian rituals.”
